Have you always wanted to camp by the Baltic Sea, but were put off by the large camping grounds with their small garden charm? Then now is your chance to experience a completely new Baltic Sea camping experience with hinterland.camp. Our hosts offer you meadows or motorhome pitches in the woods, near the coast, or on their fields. No camping neighbors to disturb your peace. Instead, you have the freedom to do exactly what you feel like doing. At the same time, you don't have to miss out on the "highlights" of the Baltic Sea. You can find our nature campsites on Rügen as well as near Usedom or at Salzhaff. Of course, you can also retreat a bit further inland into nature, enjoy the silence, and let the wind blow around your nose during small trips to the water.
Our recommendation: For many, the Baltic Sea is a popular travel destination primarily because of its coast and beaches. However, it is really worth going a bit further into the hinterland for camping. Just a few kilometers behind the Baltic Sea coast, you will find an almost untouched environment with a vastness that is unparalleled in Germany at our numerous hosts.
Team-Hinterland insider tip from Oli: "The tip is not really a secret anymore, but we were totally impressed by the 'Ghost Forest' in Nienhagen. It's best to go there early in the morning or during the blue hour and immerse yourself in the atmosphere. The old Darß forest with its misty haze appears mystical and somewhat surreal."
While large campsites on the Baltic Sea often offer the possibility for dog owners to bring their furry companions, your dog may not truly enjoy it there. With hinterland.camp, you can find fantastic places for camping with your dog on the Baltic Sea. These are places where your four-legged friend can jump out of the camper and freely sniff around on vast meadows. Many of our hosts are dog owners themselves and are open to welcoming your canine companion. Simply select the "dogs welcome" filter, and all the tent and pitch locations on the Baltic Sea where your dog is welcome will be shown to you.
When it comes to beaches, especially during the peak season, you should pay attention to official dog beaches. Between April and October, many beach sections, such as in the Lübeck Bay, are off-limits for dogs, even if they are leashed.
Therefore, the ideal time to travel to the Baltic Sea with your dog is during spring and autumn. The sea might be more suitable for the brave or surfers in neoprene during that time, but your dog can enjoy the beach mostly freely and without a leash, digging and plunging into the waves.
If you love camping but prefer smaller campsites, on hinterland.camp, you can find perfect private pitches with our hosts. Finally, wake up in the middle of a meadow or sit by the campfire at the edge of the forest. Perhaps you'd like to challenge yourself with bushcrafting during the day or even spend several days doing it? With us, you will find numerous places where you can go with your family or friends.
Tip: To find places where campfires are allowed, simply select the "campfires allowed" filter among our options. This way, all the tent pitches on the Baltic Sea will be displayed, where you can grill or warm yourself in a truly authentic way.
Why should I go to the sea and then camp among cows, sheep, and chickens? That's precisely the reason. A farm can be the perfect place for relaxation. It is the consistent rhythm here that allows you to find peace. The proximity to animals and nature creates a sense of grounding, which can be very beneficial, especially for city dwellers. Farm holidays are also a highlight for children! With hinterland.camp, you can find the perfect pitch for your camper or tent to truly unwind on a beautiful farm location. Simply select the "farm vacation" filter to find such places.
Nudist camping on the Baltic Sea? Nudism has a tradition on the Baltic Sea. For those who enjoy swimming and sunbathing "au naturel," there are many nudist beaches along the coast. Whether you can camp in the nude with our hosts should be clarified in advance. However, if you are already the only ones in the forest or on the meadow, there should be no issue with private nudist camping on the Baltic Sea.
Tip: Do you enjoy fishing but don't have a fishing license? No problem: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is one of the few federal states where you can go fishing with a tourist fishing license without a regular fishing permit.
