Camping in Northern Germany mostly begins behind the dike. However, there, our hosts offer ideal conditions for camping in nature on the North Sea. With hinterland.camp, you can find the perfect place for your vacation: Set up your tent on an orchard or camp with friends amidst lush greenery overlooking a small lake. Wake up to the mooing of cows in the Oldenburger Land or enjoy your time on a farm near Sankt Peter Ording. The best part is that the beach is usually just a few minutes away by bike, perfect for staying active during your vacation and truly earning the treats from the campfire grill in the evening ☺
Team-Hinterland insider tip from Oli: "Seeing container ships on the horizon is already impressive. However, seeing them sail past up close at the mouth of the Elbe River is an absolutely unforgettable experience. One perfect spot where you can enjoy this comfortably from your own camp is the 'Tent / pitch at the mouth of the Elbe' near Brunsbüttel."
If you don't have a water-shy four-legged companion, the North Sea is ideal for camping with your dog. The flat, long beaches are perfect for letting Goldie, Labbie, and other dogs run around and get some exercise. However, you should make sure that the beach areas are designated as dog-friendly, especially during the season from April to October. In the autumn, though, most places generally allow dogs to roam freely without a leash.
When searching for your campsite on the North Sea with hinterland.camp, you will find very individual campsites offered by private individuals. The significant advantage for your camping holiday with a dog is that you won't have to share the spots with other vacationers and their dogs. Your furry friend can usually start exploring the meadows or woods directly from your camper, van, or tent. If you're traveling with your loyal four-legged friends, simply select "dogs allowed" in the menu. Then, hinterland.camp will display all suitable places for camping with a dog on the North Sea.
Does your vacation feeling also disappear when you see pictures of crowded campsites on the North Sea, where caravans are tightly packed, and you almost land in your neighbor's grill when getting out of your camper? Then you've come to the right place at hinterland.camp. We exclusively offer pitches from private individuals that are designed for only one camper or caravan.
If you prefer to be self-sufficient, that's great, as many of our hosts only provide water and electricity connections at the site. You can use the shower in your camper in that case. This way, you'll enjoy maximum freedom while camping and can happily avoid mass tourism. However, many of our hosts also provide a toilet or shower facility!
If you are traveling with children or are very fond of animals, you should go camping on a farm at the North Sea. There's nothing better than being greeted by grazing sheep in the morning or watching chickens darting around. What's truly perfect is that you'll discover how relaxing life on a farm can be (if you're not a farmer yourself...). Turn off your phone, disconnect, and enjoy the country life while camping at the North Sea.
Where can I go camping in the nude at the North Sea?
Nudism (FKK) at the North Sea, just like at the Baltic Sea, has a long tradition. Not without reason, there are many designated nudist beaches at the Wadden Sea, on Sylt, or the North Frisian Islands. If you decide to camp at a hinterland.camp site, it's like being a guest at a friend's place. However, it's better to ask in advance if going topless or nude is allowed. When camping in the countryside, you'll often be seen by no one but a few sheep and cows ☺
