Odenwald Nature Campsite with a View and a Sauna

Are you looking for a quiet nature campground in the Odenwald, a RV site near Erbach, or a tent site near Michelstadt? Our spacious campground is nestled among forests, meadows, fields, and old trees. You’ll find plenty of space, sweeping views, and both sunny and shaded campsites. Since there are only a few sites, the atmosphere remains peaceful and close to nature. Occasionally, cattle graze in the adjacent pasture.

The campground is suitable for tents, rooftop tents, campervans, RVs, and trailers. Families, hikers, mountain bikers, and guests with dogs are welcome. Dogs must be kept on a leash on the premises.

Amenities

On-site facilities include a composting toilet, good 5G reception, and mobile electricity and water for an additional fee. A cable reel is required for the electrical connection. Barbecues are permitted. Campfires in the provided fire pits are permitted by arrangement and depending on dry conditions and the risk of forest fires. A sauna is available upon request. For children, there is a small slide in the woods. Quiet hours begin at 9:00 p.m.

Location and Attractions

The natural campsite is easily accessible from Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Mannheim, and Heidelberg. Erbach and Michelstadt are just a few minutes away and offer historic old towns, cafés (breakfast tip: Brotal), shops, Erbach Castle, the German Ivory Museum, and the Brudergrund Wildlife Park.

Mountain bikers can reach the challenging Mi1 mountain bike loop near Michelstadt, which spans about 25 kilometers, features 750 meters of elevation gain, and includes long single-track sections. The Beerfelden Bike Park, featuring freeride, downhill, and enduro trails, is also easily accessible. Cycling, hiking, and running routes start in the surrounding area.

You can swim and take walks at the Marbach Reservoir. The Sound of the Forest and Circle of Leaves festivals also take place there in the summer. The festival grounds are about an hour’s walk away. You can take the festival shuttle for the return trip; from the appropriate stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the campsite.

Other places to visit include the English Garden in Eulbach, the Fürth-Erlenbach Mountain Wildlife Park, the Himbächel Viaduct, the summer toboggan run and the Wald-Michelbach climbing forest, the Felsenmeer, the Eberstadt Stalactite Cave, Breuberg Castle, and Miltenberg.

At the koziol GLÜCKsFABRIK in Erbach, you’ll find a world of experiences, insights into the production process, and a design shop offering camping tableware and accessories for on the go. The Kübler Riding Stables offers horseback rides on Fjord horses upon prior request.

Shopping, Stops for Refreshments, and Swimming

Regional products, especially ice cream, are available at the Hüttenthal Dairy. You’ll find fresh baked goods within walking distance at the Bäckerbox in Günterfürst, and beverages at the Rebscher beverage store. Places to stop for a bite to eat include the Käs-Back forest restaurant and the beer garden in Haisterbach. Swimming options include the Marbach Reservoir, the Hetzbach outdoor pool, the Alexanderbad in Erbach, the Michelstadt forest swimming pool, and the Beerfelden forest lake.
