Cabin by the river, Woodstove & Sauna - Dog ok

Small "Maxi" cabin-on-wheels, located on the edge of a quiet, nature-focused campsite in a scenic setting right next to a small river/stream, with a partial view of Sletafjellet. A fire pit is available just outside the unit for cozy evenings.

The "Maxi" unit is a simple, insulated cabin; however, it does not have mains electricity or running water. It is heated by a wood-burning stove. Please bring your own firewood, or you may purchase it at the campsite (110 NOK for a large 60-liter sack).

Note: Between September 1st and May 1st, a small bag of firewood is included to get you started.

A solar panel provides power for basic lighting (one light inside the cabin) and allows for the charging of mobile phones and tablets. Please bring your own USB cable and charger. Candles are also provided in the cabin.

The unit features a 140 cm double bed, complete with two duvets and two pillows, as well as a table and a couple of chairs.

Guests are required to bring their own bed linen and towels. Bed linen can be rented for 150 NOK per set; towels are available for 50 NOK each.

Guests are responsible for cleaning the cabin after use.

During the summer season, guests should use the communal kitchen located on the other side of the river.

The communal kitchen is equipped with drinking water and basic kitchen essentials—including pots, a frying pan, plates, etc.—as well as a gas burner for cooking.

A composting (dry) toilet is located nearby, approximately 15 meters from the cabin.

- Well-behaved, quiet dogs are permitted. The dog is not allowed on the bed; it must stay on the floor :)

During the winter season, the caravan is moved to another part of the campsite, which has its own kitchen. Read more about this further down.

During the autumn/winter season (approximately September 10th – May 1st), the caravan is positioned next to a small brown cabin, which houses a private outdoor kitchen and an outdoor lounge area. In the summer, the caravan is moved back to its summer spot by the river, complete with a small terrace, a fire pit, and a table and chairs. During the summer, guests must use the communal kitchen located on the other side of the river.

The winter kitchen is equipped with a gas burner, kitchenware, and a sink. There is solar-powered lighting and facilities for charging devices.

It is also possible to rent a gas heater for the winter kitchen for an additional fee.

Our Nature Camp is a small, simple campsite without electricity, showers, or running water. It is beautifully situated by a small stream, offering a lovely view of Sletafjell and scenic surroundings, while remaining conveniently close to the road. We live in harmony with nature; we keep things simple—this is not a 5-star hotel. The site is perfect for nature lovers looking for a short break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

There are no showers at the camp, but you can wash in the sauna; the sauna stove also heats water.

There is usually a fair amount of snow at the camp, allowing for snow-based activities during the winter.

The access road to the parking area is kept clear of snow.

Nearby Sletafjell is a popular mountain for rock climbing. We also have a rowboat available for free use on the nearest lake (for 2-hour sessions). Lognavatn, located about 7 km from the camp, is also a great spot for fishing—please note that you will need to purchase your own fishing permit. You can also swim in the stream/river right next to the campsite. You can also use the outdoor lounge area during the summer, where you will find various outdoor games available to borrow free of charge. There is a composting toilet nearby.

In the summer, we also offer tree tents, hammocks, a couple of small cabins on wheels, and a few tent pitches for rent. The campsite does not have mains electricity, but there is a solar power system, allowing you to charge your phone.

Most facilities at the campsite are spaced as far apart as possible to ensure maximum privacy for everyone. During the winter, only this specific cabin is available for rent.

The caravan and the campsite are constantly being improved, so new features are frequently added. The water level in the river varies significantly, and the natural surroundings change with the seasons.

It is approximately 25 km to Evje, where you will find grocery stores, a mineral park, rafting, a climbing park, go-karting, and more.

It is also about 25 km to Åseral Kyrkjebygda, which offers a grocery store, a gas station, the Minne Cultural Centre, and other amenities.

Bortelid is about 15 km away, featuring cycling and hiking trails, minigolf, canoe rentals, a small shop, and more.

The distance to both Kristiansand and Arendal is approximately 90 km.

TRANSPORT:

It is possible to reach us by bus from Evje or from Åseral Kyrkjebygda. The bus must be booked at least 2 hours in advance.
