Several spacious covered seating areas and a fire pit are available. Above the site, there is a wonderful view of the city of Nordhausen.
The region is a dream for mountain bike enthusiasts!
Nearby swimming lakes (see photo—a 5-minute drive away—NOT within walking distance!) with excellent water quality. The adjacent Harz Mountains and Kyffhäuser region offer many opportunities for excursions and activities.
Recommended destinations in the region include:
the Kyffhäuser Monument, the IFA Technology Museum in Nordhausen, the Uthleben Flea Market and Antique Barn, a steam train ride through the Harz Mountains on the historic Harz narrow-gauge railway, Wernigerode Castle and Aviation Museum, the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen and the Leaning Tower of Bad Frankenhausen, the Sondershausen Visitor and Adventure Mine, Falkenstein Castle, a tour and tasting at the traditional Nordhausen distillery, Roßtrappe in the Bode Valley, hike up the Brocken, the Bielener and Sundhäuser gravel lakes (Sundhäuser Lake is considered one of the best diving spots in Germany), the historic town of Stolberg/Harz and the town of Quedlinburg, the Oldisleben Sugar Factory cultural heritage site, the Barbarossa Cave in Rottleben and the Heimkehle Karst Show Cave, action at “Harzdrenalin,” and for families: the Hexentanzplatz + the cable car adventure world in Thale, and a family-friendly guided tour of the Rabensteiner Stollen Ilfed visitor mine.

What a wonderful place! Everything went very smoothly and was totally relaxed. Our Movano Crosscamp managed the steep driveway just fine with a little momentum (it would have been tricky in the rain). We were even allowed to set up our tent sauna. So our happiness in solitude was perfect. Communicating with Isabel was great! Thanks for this amazing spot! We’d love to come back!
The booking process was super easy and was confirmed in no time! After a quick, friendly chat and getting the coordinates sent via WhatsApp, everything was great! The spot was a sort of barbecue area—very basic, but everything was clean and in good condition! Very, very remote (you have to be up for it), quiet, teeming with wildlife, and with sweeping views! If you’re living out of a van, bring some wheel chocks if you want to park perfectly level! Since we were back home by around 11 p.m. for personal reasons and didn’t spend the night there, we can’t comment on the restrooms or what it’s like at night! The drive in is on a gravel road with small potholes and ends with a steep, drivable incline—but that’s clearly stated in the listing! We wish the hosts and all campers lots of fun! 🙂

The campsite is in a really beautiful location. We were all alone with no neighbors—just wildlife in the area. We’d love to come back to unwind and enjoy ourselves.😃🌄
