The site is located about 2 km from the town center in a secluded spot. On clear days, it’s worth setting your alarm for a spectacular sunrise.

The Harz and Kyffhäuser regions offer many opportunities for excursions and activities.

The region is a dream come true for mountain bike enthusiasts!

Recommended destinations include:

the Kyffhäuser Monument, a hike to the mineral spring and the Auleben burial mound site, the Rüxleber Hof Auleben farm café with its farm museum (open on Sundays), the Bismarck Tower in Auleben (about 500 meters from the campground on foot), the idyllically located “Thyragrotte Stolberg” recreational pool with sauna area, the Uthleben flea market and antique barn, the IFA Technology Museum in Nordhausen, the Sondershausen visitor and adventure mine, a steam train ride through the Harz Mountains on the historic Harz narrow-gauge railway, the Wernigerode Castle and Aviation Museum, the Harz Bode Valley, the Bielener and Sundhäuser gravel lakes (Sundhäuser See is considered one of the best diving spots in Germany), tasting and tour at the traditional Nordhausen distillery, Falkenstein Castle, a hike up the Brocken, the historic town of Stolberg/Harz and the town of Quedlinburg, the Barbarossa Cave in Rottleben and the Heimkehle Karst Show Cave, Adventure at “Harzdrenalin” and, for families, the Hexentanzplatz + the cable car adventure world in Thale and the Harz Witches’ Realm in Rothesütte, as well as a family-friendly guided tour of the Rabensteiner Stollen visitor mine.

In spring and fall, you can observe the impressive crane migration at the reservoir.

In town, there’s a pizzeria, a snack bar, a farm café at the Rüxleber Hof Auleben (open on weekends), a bakery (traditional artisan operation), Café Kaffeemühle Hamma, fresh fish from the Auleben fish farm, and you’re welcome to sign up for a wine tasting (Auleben elderberry wine).

!!!!!Access is limited to off-road vehicles only. (Buses/vans, off-road trucks, off-road motorcycles, MTBs). Unpaved terrain! Not suitable for travel trailers or standard RVs.!!!!!!

The directions were perfect. Great atmosphere, the view, and the peace and quiet—simply fantastic—we’d love to come back!
