You can expect a very quiet location on the outskirts of the beautiful historic half-timbered town of Schmalkalden.
A covered barbecue area, as well as water and electricity, are available, and you are welcome to use the pool to cool off.
There is also a shower (bathtub) and 2 toilets available.
Shopping facilities and a restaurant are within a 5-10 minute walk.
For cyclists, a bike path is also just a 5-minute walk away, leading toward the Rennsteig or Werra Röhn.
We can arrange guided hikes on the Rennsteig, whether on foot or by bike.
!TRAILERS AND CAMPERS (WITHOUT A TOW VEHICLE) ARE ONLY ALLOWED IF THEY ARE NO LONGER THAN 6.90 METERS DUE TO THE NARROW PASSAGEWAY.

This was our very first booking with Hinterland, and what a hit it was: Bernd is great in every way, and the place is a hotspot for anyone looking for adventure in the Thuringian Forest—if it’s like this everywhere, then we’d love to vacation with Hinterland again and again.
We only stayed with Bernd for one night, but my kids wanted to stay longer. The place is in such a beautiful location, and it’s perfect for short hikes followed by a dip in the pool. Perfect for families with dogs and kids. Bernd is super friendly and an excellent guide.
Bernd is a very friendly host, and he's created a wonderful little oasis where we felt right at home. It has everything you need—and then some. You can even use a cozy lounge if you'd like. We'd love to come back!
A very caring and helpful host who looks after his guests attentively and is happy to make time for them. Some of the campsites offer pleasant shade—which is especially important during these summers—and the amenities are unusually extensive for a place like this: from a small pool for children to electricity and even a bathroom, there’s plenty to make your stay particularly enjoyable. All in all, a very nice and quite peaceful campsite with a beautiful view, the chance to spot various birds and deer, and many well-thought-out extras. We’d love to come back!
