Christine"Benno the Wagon" was originally an old shooting gallery that we converted into a vacation home on wheels with a lot of passion and attention to detail. You can now spend the night in it in the middle of nature and still feel at home. On approx. 16 square meters you have everything you need: Benno has a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable bed (1.40 m wide), a cozy armchair, a bathroom with a sitting bathtub (for showering) and a compost toilet and, above all, lots of charm ... Come in and feel at home!
There is a spacious terrace in front of the caravan where you can let the morning sun shine on your face or count the stars at night. The caravan is basically designed for 2 people - but there is enough space under the bed so that we can set up a "sleeping cave" here for smaller children if required. There is an additional charge of 10 euros per child. You can also spend the night in the caravan in the cold season: there is a wood-burning stove (wood is provided) which provides cozy warmth. This makes it really cozy!
"Right at the top in Bavaria" - that's the Franconian Forest and also "Benno the Wagon". It stands there on the edge of the forest near the "Finkenburg", a detached slate cottage just outside the glassmaking village of Kleintettau. It is just a stone's throw from the Thuringian border and Germany's most famous hiking trail, the Rennsteig and the "Green Belt". The caravan is therefore also an excellent place to stay overnight for Rennsteig hikers and for people who want to hike along the former border on the "Green Belt". The Finkenburg is home to Kerstin Rentsch, a gourmet ambassador who sells her home-made products in her small farm store: Jams, vinegar, cooked cheese, ketchup, quark, etc.. She is happy to put together a customized breakfast with her products for overnight guests on request; you can also get snacks, provisions for hikes, lunch or dinner from her. In Kleintettau itself there is the Tropenhaus, which is heated with waste heat from the Heinz Glas company, and the European Glass Flacon Museum with glass café.
