Blossoming apple trees, crunchy lettuce in the fields and crisp green wild garlic at the edge of the forest - you might just work up an appetite at the sight... This is exactly what awaits you at our camps and cabins with farm stores! Camp where food is grown: on windfall orchards, between vines, at the edge of a field or next to the beds of a permaculture. Browse through the colorful, often lovingly prepared farm stores of your hosts and look forward to regional and seasonal products that can go straight from the patch to your barbecue or in the pot on the camping stove. It couldn't be fresher!

Find camps and cabins with farm stores

To find camps and cabins with farm stores, you can simply select our practical farm store filter when searching and only display results with farm stores. Another filter that might interest you is the farm holidays filter .Our hosts in the countryside often offer opportunities to get a closer look at farm life so that children can help with feeding the animals or growing and caring for the plants, for example. You can find more details in the description of the advertisement. If you are looking for camps with farm stores nearby, you can simply select "In my area" in addition to the "Farm store" filter in the search bar and only browse through listings that are in your area.

Why are regional and seasonal foods actually so good?

As well as having the very best taste, buying regional and seasonal food from the farm store also has a positive effect on the climate and regional agriculture compared to buying items that have been flown in. Farmers can save on taxes at intermediate stages in the distribution channel and the environment is spared long transportation routes and thus high CO₂ emissions. Here are two examples of the CO₂ emissions of regional and seasonal products compared to off-season and off-region products:

  • Lettuce only grows in heated greenhouses in winter and therefore causes up to 5x more CO₂ than regional lettuce in summer.
  • Strawberries are imported from warmer countries in winter. If they come by plane from Egypt, for example, they cause up to 60 times more CO₂ than strawberries from the region in summer.

Fruit and vegetables from the farm store are therefore not only delicious, but also more environmentally friendly. What's more, you are directly supporting your friendly hosts!
