Please do not drive onto the grassy area, as it is boggy ground.

Can you fall in love with a lake? Anyone who knows Lake Flögeler would answer with a resounding “yes.” The nature here is enchantingly beautiful. The 155-hectare Lake Flögeler borders expansive moorland to the north. To the southeast, you’ll find eroded steep banks on a geest slope.

Your campsite is right on the lakeshore on a natural plot of land. Host Silke is happy to offer you the mowed meadow with its own dock. A boat awaits you at the dock, which you can use to paddle on the lake. The water is only knee-deep at the shore, so splashing around and swimming are also possible.

All kinds of waterfowl live on the lake; in winter, whooper swans from Russia spend their winter here. Directly across the way is the newly renovated Moor Information Trail, which offers an idyllic and informative walk through the moor.

You can also explore the moor via the moor railway at the nearby MoorIZ (which features a café-restaurant, themed playground, and interactive exhibition in the old peat factory).

You can barbecue, build a campfire, or do whatever else you feel like on your campsite. You can set out to explore the moor, go surfing on the lake, or drive to the beach at the Elbe estuary near Otterndorf. A medieval castle can be visited in Bad Bederkesa, where there is also a wonderful modern playground and a very nice restaurant by the lake (it’s the 5 Lakes Region). Bike tours invite you to ride from lake to lake.

Or you can do what works best here: nothing. Just sit there and look out at the lake, which looks different at every hour of the day. But always beautiful enough to fall in love with.

    May 2026

We’re absolutely blown away… we were there at the end of May and had a wonderful long weekend. The spot is surrounded by trees and shrubs, and you have complete privacy. The dock is surrounded by plants, so you’re completely undisturbed. We brought our kayak and paddled across the lake; there isn’t much to see in Flögeln itself, but it’s still charming. If you’re just looking for nature and peace, this is the perfect spot! The moorland trail is also very beautiful and quiet. We highly recommend starting to cook two hours before sunset and then eating by the water at one of the benches as the sun goes down. As soon as the sun goes down, the mosquitoes come out, so we made ourselves comfortable in the awning with some wine and a game of Yahtzee. Super cozy, super beautiful—we’ll definitely be back! :)

The location is very idyllic. We were there at the end of January 2026 with snow and sub-zero temperatures in our camper van and under a tarp. It's fantastic. Silke was super friendly and easy to deal with. Highly recommended.
