We spent a magical Pentecost weekend at Luis’s spot. It’s incredibly peaceful and a wonderful starting point for hiking and biking. With a fire in the fire pit in the evenings, the days were perfect. The only downside was the drive there and back in a 6-meter Alkhofen—even after changing our route, it was more than an adventure. If it’s rained heavily beforehand, you won’t make it up there without four-wheel drive.

The campsite was beautiful—super quiet, with great views all around and plenty of hiking options right from the site. What we did miss, however (and for which we have to deduct a star), was a warning that the road to the campsite is very steep and narrow and should only be driven on with a four-wheel-drive vehicle after rain. Unfortunately, it took us several attempts because the road was very soft, muddy, and rutted from the rain, which made the start of our little getaway and the planning of our excursions a bit more difficult. But to be fair, we have to say: Luis got back to us super fast and accommodated us by canceling our second night. We’d love to come back when the weather is dry so we can fully enjoy the site.

A very nice campsite in a wonderfully peaceful setting. After a short search, we found a real little paradise. The hosts were super friendly and helpful—we felt completely at home.

Luis offers a really nice campsite here. It feels like you’re right in the middle of the forest, in a small clearing with a view. It’s a bit rustic, but that fits perfectly here. You can tell that a lot of things have been thought through practically, like the swivel grill. I’ll definitely be back! ☺️ Directions: In good weather (and if it hasn’t rained in the days leading up to your visit), the drive is manageable with any vehicle. However, it might be a tight fit for very large vehicles (Crafter, Sprinter, RVs). Note: There’s no place to turn around on the last approximately 600 meters! In bad weather or if you have any concerns, it might be worth taking a short walk to the cabin to assess the drive yourself.
