Large vehicles can’t get here, but rooftop tents, regular tents, and smaller RVs or trailers are fine. Here, you can be completely at peace with yourself. Woods, meadows, and every now and then the two donkeys… Pearl and Filou. No one can see you; you can faintly hear the activity down at the farm. You’re at the edge of the forest with a view of the Elz Valley—nothing but green. Watch the sun rise across the way and simply BE on about 1 hectare of forest and meadow with a natural stream...

You can drive over in a car or RV, but a long, wide RV won’t make the turn—it’s about 200 meters to the farm.

EVERYTHING you need is at the farm: spring water, washing station, washing machine, ceramic grill, seating and dining area, sunroom, campfire site, shower, toilet, and trash disposal. An electrical outlet is available on-site.

Up there, overlooking us across to the farm, you can enjoy the evening, the day, and above all the wonderful flora and fauna. If the long-eared ones are a bother, if you’d prefer to be alone WITHOUT animals, or if you have a dog of your own, we’d close the gate leading up to you down by the pond; you’d still have 1 hectare of space at the farm, and you’d also have the area up there all to yourselves...

This natural setting awaits you

  • By a river/stream

Our Zinkbächle stream, which rises in the woods behind us, flows down into the small pond—and from there into the Elzach

  • In a meadow

You're standing in the donkey pasture, which can also be fenced off if you don't want the donkeys around.

  • With a shady place

Since there are many fruit trees here and the nearby forest, you can always find wonderful shady spots to relax at any time of day

  • By the lake

a small goose/duck pond located 50 meters below the neighbor's property; visible but fenced off

  • On a farm

We are the sixth generation to run an organic farm and vacation rental, and we are vegetarians... (but you are welcome to grill, fry, or eat whatever you like)

  • At/in the forest

On two sides, the forest consists of mature oak and pine trees (our old farm oak in the enclosure is about 200 years old).

  • Between trees

There are many fruit trees here, including cherry, plum, apple, and nut trees.

  • In the mountains

We're at the top of the Heidburg Pass, 550 meters up in the mountains, with a wonderful view across to the Kandel and Rohardsberg.

What this place offers

  • Toilet

The fitness room downstairs in the courtyard is always open

  • Dogs welcome

On a leash in the yard, otherwise 1.5 hectares of open space on the grounds

  • Cats welcome

All animals are welcome here, provided... they get along with ours or are kept at your home. NO solo animals

  • Electricity

    has 2 sockets available

  • Shower

The gym is always open in the courtyard

  • Water

There are three spring water taps in the courtyard and a stream on the grounds

  • Cell phone reception

At the courtyard, only 2 networks available there; 200 meters further on, all

  • Campfire allowed

It's too dangerous right at the edge of the forest, but since the area is so big...you're welcome to build a campfire in the fire pit down below. We also have a large fire pit by the grills, up in the courtyard—that's where everyone usually gathers.

  • Firewood

There are so many fruit trees on your property, the nearby forest... and deadwood all around that you can collect for free.

If you'd like cut firewood, there would be a charge for that.

  • Barbecue allowed

3 leg grills, seating, and lounge chairs available

  • WiFi

Right in the courtyard, yes; on the square itself, no

  • Public transport

Yes, the Heidburg Pass is about 1 km away; a bus runs over the mountain here about every 2 hours

  • Wheelchair accessible

The area is unpaved, with natural ground/a dirt path. It is difficult to navigate in a wheelchair, though it has been used that way before. The courtyard itself is easy to navigate. The restroom is NOT wheelchair accessible.

  • Fenced

Yes, this area is completely safe, since we keep the donkeys here in two pastures—either together with you or, if you prefer, separately.

  • Other (house rules)

-No loud parties; campfires are welcome, no matter how long they last, but please be considerate of our need for sleep and the nearby forest and its wildlife.

-There is 1 toilet and 1 shower in the courtyard building; they are always accessible.

-If anything is missing, please let us know; we’re happy to lend you most items.

Around the accommodation

  • Farm shop

We offer Oma Rösch’s own products, as well as homemade Black Forest specialties from GlücksStüblie

  • Waste disposal

Waste separation, recycling of general waste, including outside waste (in garbage bags) for €9.50 each

  • Sauna

It isn't used during the summer months (the sun takes care of the tan), and this is also where the restroom and shower are located.

  • Grey water disposal

Yes, we have our own organic wastewater treatment plant.

NO chemical toilet; you can empty it in Oberprechtal, about 7 km away.

  • EV charging

You’re welcome to charge your vehicle here. There are 3 options available on the premises; please specify your preference when booking. The cost is €0.50 per kWh.

    0.5€ per usage/unit

  • Pool

is usually available from early May through late September; 49,000 liters of spring water

  • Hot tub

We have a hot tub that we like to set up when the weather is cold and bad, but not in the summer; that’s because it would require 1,300 liters of spring water per family, and the water is too precious for that in the summer...We have ONLY this one spring that supplies the entire farm, so those many liters are more important for the garden, filling the pool, and farm water.

  • Playground

Yes, at P1 next to the barbecue area/courtyard—freely accessible

  • Washing machine

There is a free washing machine at Grandma Rösch's in the Orangery. Please bring your own laundry detergent.

  • Kitchen

Up at the large barbecue area, you can use the hot plates, convection oven, or other equipment free of charge.

Activities

  • Other activities

We’re happy to share our little corner of the world with anyone who

fits in with our farm community. As long as we can be natural, honest, and treat each other as equals, it’ll work out. You’re very welcome here.

  • Horse riding

Yes, after a day's work, with the donkeys—though it’s more like taking the donkeys for a walk. The kids can learn about animals, the responsibilities that come with caring for them, and, above all, how to love them.

  • MTB

Yes, there are a few trails here; please stay on the paths

  • Cycling

For experienced cyclists and road cyclists, the Heidburgberg is a training route

  • Watching wildlife

Yes, you're right on the edge of the forest, with a meadow in front of it. Rabbits, deer, badgers, foxes, hawks, and martens—as well as our cats, Nuit and Tinka—will surely pay you a visit at night.

  • Swimming

Yes, our own new outdoor pool (49,000 liters), filled with spring water

  • Playing by the water

Yes, a water pump with a stream near the rabbit enclosure, or the stream that flows through the grounds

  • Hiking

We're right in the middle of hiking trails—just set off

  • Farm vacation

Yes, we work with our tame animals every day, and all the enclosures are accessible.

  • Climbing

In the surrounding forest, it's ALWAYS possible; otherwise, there's a climbing gym about 30 km away

So what can I write, I found the description of the Eselwiese and could hardly believe that there is such a great offer. We spent a week with Natalia and her large family and found everything exactly as described. The plan was underlined by a great harmony and an incomparable flair with lots of nature and coziness, especially the two donkeys were a highlight, also for our dogs. The large fenced-in donkey meadow is a very special experience. The dogs could run free all day and there was a campfire every evening and food from the barbecue over the open fire. We have to say, we have found many great places in the last few years, but overall it was indescribably beautiful at Natalia's, we will definitely be back 😀👍🍷🥰

It was very nice at Natalia's. We were able to really switch off in the middle of the countryside. In between there were sweet donkeys who also liked to be cuddled and in the evening we were also alone by the fire. The communication was very pleasant, everything was on a first-name basis and very human. We give it a 5/5 rating and can only recommend the Eselwiese and would love to come back.

Dear Natalia, A place to arrive - and really arrive. This little corner of the world has hit us right in the heart. We are grateful for the peace and quiet, the warm hospitality and the deep sense of well-being that accompanied us here. A true oasis in the midst of beautiful nature, with lovely people, special animals and the rare ability to make it easy for us to let go. We will definitely be back - a place with rarity value. Thank you, Michael and Silke with our fur noses

If you are looking for paradise, you will find it here. Natalia and her family gave us a very warm welcome and we felt very comfortable and at peace in the midst of the farm and its creatures. We will be back any time.
