A rural idyll close to the city – Welcome to the Zechenhaus!
If you’re looking for peace and quiet but don’t want to be completely off the beaten path, you’ve come to the right place: The Zechenhaus is located on the green outskirts of Frankenberg—just 3 km from the town center—and welcomes you with the cozy atmosphere of an old farmhouse.
Surrounded by fields, meadows, and rolling hills, you’ll find a relaxing retreat with rustic charm—ideal for anyone traveling in a camper who’s looking for a place to take a deep breath, unwind, or start the day to the sound of birdsong.
Pure nature & nearby attractions: Just about 20 minutes away lies the beautiful Kellerwald-Edersee National Park—a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Whether hiking, biking, or simply enjoying the forest—the untouched nature and ancient beech forests offer plenty of space for adventures big and small. Lake Edersee itself is also just a short trip away: perfect for swimming, boating, or a relaxing break by the water.
Frankenberg features a lovely swimming pool—as well as charming cafés, shopping options, and a picturesque old town with half-timbered charm. Perfect for a quick stroll through town in between activities.
Your camp is situated in a quiet, nature-filled setting on the spacious farm grounds, offering the most beautiful view of the valley as well as plenty of space to relax, cook outdoors, build a campfire (where permitted), or simply let your gaze wander into the distance.
For everyone who loves nature—and a little bit of freedom to go with it.

Pure delight! A 10 out of 10. If you’re looking to get away from it all and enjoy nature and peace and quiet, this is the perfect place for you. We were warmly welcomed by the family, and communicating with them was easy and hassle-free. The accommodations are exactly as described—everything you need is provided, and the surroundings are beautiful. Hiking or simply taking a long walk are definitely possible here. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the family for this wonderful opportunity. I will definitely come back and visit this beautiful spot again.
Unfortunately, we were only there for one night and would have loved to stay longer: it was very quiet and idyllic, with a great view. Everything was just as described, and the host was very friendly. We’d love to come back!
We spent a night at Johannes' place in Frankenberg and felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The welcome was warm, and the location, surrounded by nature, was just as beautiful as in the photos. We'll be back!
We were absolutely blown away by the amazing view!!! Even with a second parking spot above, we had total privacy!!! Super friendly hosts—we’d love to come back!!😎🤩🐾
