🌿 Welcome to the natural garden in the Ried 🌿
First a few words in advance:
I don't want to make a profit from renting out my garden. If I did, I would have to increase the rent significantly. My aim on this platform is to offer people a simple, natural opportunity to camp and share my garden - just as it is.
Many guests have been satisfied in the past, and to keep it that way, I would like to describe to you in all openness what you can expect here - and what not. If you're looking for a well-tended lawn with garden gnomes and perfectly trimmed hedges, you're probably not in the right place. But if you appreciate peace, nature and a real garden atmosphere, read on:
---
🏕️ The garden
My plot covers 4,150 m² and is located in the Ried, a local recreation area on the outskirts of Herten (NRW). Here you'll find lots of space, lots of green, lots of sky - and no plot boundaries or campsite rules.
It is a near-natural garden. That means:
There is no ornamental lawn, but meadows with wild flowers, clover, dandelions and all the plants that find their own place.
The edges are overgrown with native shrubs, nettles and wild hedges - important for insects, birds and soil life.
Fallen branches or leaves are often left lying around for the time being - they are part of the cycle, not the problem.
Instead of exotic ornamental plants, field maple, elder, hazel and wild roses grow here - habitat instead of show.
Garden maintenance follows the principle: as much as necessary, as little as possible.
---
🧘 What you can expect here
Peace and quiet - no through traffic, no hustle and bustle, plenty of distance from everyday life.
Animal sounds instead of street noise: a rooster may crow in the morning, frogs croak, birds chirp.
A simple bio-toilet (dry toilet) that works - but sometimes a spider is quicker to decorate it than I am to clean it.
No electricity connections on site, but may be possible on request.
Water access (for washing hands etc.) is available in a barrel. No drinking water!
---
🧡 Who is the course suitable for?
For people who don't expect nature to look tidy.
For campers who prefer to pitch their tent among wildflowers rather than on pitches.
For all those who enjoy meadows under their feet, stars above their heads and peace in their hearts.
---
🚐 Campers with vans are very welcome, but should note that the pitch is bordered by bushes and does not offer much space to spread out. The pitch is rather unsuitable for large vehicles or with an awning and lots of accessories. The garden is particularly suitable for camping.
Would you like more information? :
The nature garden is located in the beautiful recreation area in the Ried (Herten). Many farms invite you to go shopping, to the beer garden or to eat.
The accommodation is ideal for hikers, cyclists or families who would like to sleep in a tent with their children. The garden offers the possibility to park a car on a paved road. For longer stays than 3 days, please enquire.
Please note that the parking space for cars and vans is limited in width. The terrace is available for free use.
Check-in / Check out
If the following day is free in the calendar on the day of arrival, you can take as much time as you like to check out. Otherwise, please leave by 2 pm at the latest.
⚠️ Due to the current situation, please do not drive on the neighboring properties (meadows) or use them in any other way. The farmers grow hay there and do not like it if the wet meadows are driven on.
