Moorburg is a special village: colorful, creative, a little crazy, somehow different. Hamburg city center is just a stone's throw away, and it takes just 25 minutes to get to Altona, for example. Nevertheless, you can enjoy peace and quiet, take a walk along the Süderelbe and breathe in the harbor air or admire our beautiful moor. There is no supermarket or gas station. But don't worry, the nearest supermarket is less than 10 minutes away, but here with us it's really just a village!

You sleep in the driveway to one of our horse meadows, so to speak. We have a caravan here ourselves, where we sometimes sleep. Just because it feels like a vacation. We've piled up some sand and have deckchairs, sand toys and a hammock on site, a large fire bowl and a barbecue. You are welcome to use everything!

Electricity is available from Martin next door, as is water if required. In one direction you can see the "street" and the house of our wood artist Hartwig. In the other direction into the countryside, there are three hectares of horse meadow and an enchanted garden of an abandoned house. Speaking of horses, they live 200 meters away - if you feel like helping or petting them, we can certainly manage that too.

Children and dogs are very welcome.

I spent three days and nights at Christina and Sophie’s campsite and felt right at home! Riding an (organic) bike into town is no problem for fit people—it’s just a half-hour ride to the Old Elbe Tunnel, and you’re there. Unfortunately, Google Maps didn’t show the current bridge closures in the Free Port—maybe try a different app? Komot? I’ll give it a try next time... The site itself is very quiet in an idyllic village, practically right in the middle of Hamburg. There’s a place to wash up and a separate toilet by the horses a few meters away, a very nice neighbor, and otherwise you’re surrounded by nature. I’d love to come back!

Nice spot in a good location near Hamburg. A little too small—we barely had any space—but okay for one night. The toilet is just a dry toilet, but it’s okay. There isn’t much light in the bathroom. Although water was mentioned in the listing, there were only empty containers on the site. In the bathroom, however, there was a canister of water for washing your hands and brushing your teeth, as well as nice touches like soap, deodorant, etc. A super nice neighbor who greeted us and showed us where the restrooms were. The price was a bit too high.

Overall, it’s a nice place, but there were a few areas for improvement: There was no water—the water jugs provided for that purpose were both empty, so there was no way to wash up. There are also no shower facilities, though to be fair, this isn’t mentioned anywhere. We drove to the nearest indoor pool instead. Everything also looked a bit weathered and poorly maintained: both the fire pit and the area without bark mulch hadn’t been mowed in a while, and the decorative elements seemed rather neglected. The composting toilet was clean, however, and our neighbor was very nice and helpful—we were able to refill our water bottles there, so at least we had some drinking water. For €26 a night, I unfortunately found the offer rather meager even by Hamburg standards, since very little effort had been put into the site. For that price, you could also get a campground (e.g., Buchholz) that offers better bus connections and sanitary facilities. It’s a shame, because with a little care and attention, they could really make something of the place.
