These three camps combine popular insider tips and exciting new discoveries - a visit is definitely worthwhile! Whether it's a cozy family campsite in Dresden, an idyllic shelter with a spacious meadow directly on the Elbe or a camp with a breathtaking view over the mountains of Saxon Switzerland - everyone will find their perfect spot here.

1. Community favorite: Camp at the gates of Dresden

Wilsdruff OT Limbach , Germany

What can you expect here?

At your host Nico's camp, you can enjoy the perfect mix of nature and proximity to the city. Dresden with its impressive old town, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains for hiking and climbing enthusiasts or the picturesque wine-growing areas of Radebeul - all of this is easily accessible from here.

A cycle path starts directly in front of the property and takes you to Wilsdruff or the Mohorn outdoor pool. The nearby Tharandt Forest invites you to go on extensive hiking and cycling tours. There are also great excursion destinations in bad weather: Oskarshausen or Dresden Zoo offer exciting experiences for the whole family.

There is a small toilet block with shower (in the frost-free period) as well as a fire pit and barbecue facilities. You can buy drinks such as water, beer and wine directly on the farm. If you don't have your own bike with you, you can hire one by prior reservation.

Simply relax, put your feet up and enjoy the peace and quiet - this is exactly what guests appreciate about Nico's campsite.

The camp costs per night 32€ (Price per night & spot)

"I was a bit skeptical about 5 stars, but Nico and Dani deserve 10! This is how you want to spend your vacation. Super friendly, everything was spotlessly clean and the dogs were also welcome. We will definitely be back! It doesn't get any better than this!"

Michael also awards 5 stars and writes:

"Thank you for a wonderful stay. Great ambience, everything clean, tidy and practical and with great attention to detail.

And best of all - very friendly, helpful hosts who are always on hand with help and advice.

We would love to come back :-)"

Guests who have already stayed in the sleeping barrel were very enthusiastic. Here are some of the reviews:

Dorit awards 5 stars and writes:

"A fine place. Right on the Elbe.

Absolute peace and quiet here. Except for the ducks in the Elbe, who tell jokes in the evening and laugh together... What a party we had.

Yes, the view over the Elbe when the sun rises is totally worth it!

The toilet is also very nice.

And Tobias is an uncomplicated host.

Thumbs up. Both"

Frank and Gerhild also award 5 stars and report:

"Everything was perfect, we slept well, enjoyed the great view of the Elbe and felt very comfortable.

Tobias was on vacation himself, but came by on Saturday to greet us, thanks for that.

If we cycle the Elbe cycle path again, we will definitely book the sleeping barrel again."

Insider tip for VW drivers: Camp with far-reaching views of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains

Liebstadt, Germany

What can you expect here?

Host Anna-Karina's listed country estate campsite is located in the Müglitz Valley nature and bird sanctuary, on the edge of Saxon Switzerland, just a few minutes from Dresden. You can watch the fjord horses on the extensive pastures and, with a bit of luck, you might even see a foal being born in spring.

The secluded camp offers a great view of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains and Königstein Fortress. Here you can enjoy fresh fruit from the orchards, sweet cherry brandy and delicious honey.

For families, there are pony rides, the opportunity to help with horse care and small adventure tours in the biotope network. In the surrounding area, hiking trails and sights such as the 1,000-year-old yew tree or Kuckuckstein Castle invite you to explore.
