I’d definitely come back here. The donkeys didn’t bother me at all. The place was secluded, yet we had it all to ourselves. Frank was also very friendly.
An exceptional campsite near the Steinhuder Meer. The numerous animals are something special. Frank and his family are super-friendly hosts. The sanitary facilities are really luxurious. The price-performance ratio is top. We'll be back next year and stay a few days.
We had a lovely night in the meadow. It's super quiet there and the donkeys are really cute. We would love to come back

It was such a wonderful place, nestled right in the heart of nature. We were able to really unwind, spend time together, and see those amazing donkeys. Just being together and enjoying nature. Communication was very straightforward and went smoothly. We’d love to come back
Nice stay with Frank. We received a very nice welcome. A super chic bathroom. Lots of great animals nearby. Storks, chickens and above all the cute donkeys. The only negative point was that we had expected that only 3 campers were allowed to stand there but there were 7 and we could not stand together with our friends as expected. However, this was made up for by a generous concession from Frank. We would love to come again.

Arrival and briefing very nice. Donkey pasture directly in front of the pitches, but also chickens, goats and storks on the farm. Pitch directly on the circular route around the Steinhuder Meer. Good shopping facilities in Rehburg.
A very nice place next to the donkeys. We felt very comfortable. Frank is a very nice host. And thanks for the permanently installed pavilion which saved us a lot of setting up in rainy weather.
The stay was simply wonderful! The owners are very friendly and welcoming, the site has a very well-equipped, clean bathroom and is located directly on the road around the Steinhuder Meer. In addition to the fantastic donkey farm, there are two small ponies, two goats, chickens and three friendly dogs. You can get everything you need in the village and there are several restaurants on site. A comeback is not unlikely for us.
We were for two nights with roof tent and conventional tent at Frank's. We stood on a meadow directly in front of the pitches for motorhomes & Co. the meadow bordered directly on the busy road, so there was noise from the vehicles. The meadow was also freely accessible and not fenced in, which meant that I was constantly watching out for the safety of my children. The sanitary facilities and kitchen were extensively renovated and were always clean. The hosts were friendly and communicative and the animals on site (goats, ponies, chickens, storks, donkeys and dogs) were allowed to be viewed and marveled at. We almost attended the birth of a donkey foal! The bakery, restaurants and supermarkets were all within walking distance, and the bus also left from very close by, so we were mobile even without a car.
Nice host, bathroom/sink really in tip-top shape and very clean. The location is great for a trip to the nearby Dino Park. Thank you very much!

Great place surrounded by greenery, with a beautifully landscaped meadow. The donkeys can of course be heard, but we didn't find them annoying. The pavilion offers good protection from the sun and rain. It takes about 20 minutes by bike to reach the northern shore of the Steinhuder Meer. The camper should definitely be self-sufficient, there is no electricity, water or sanitary facilities. As the site can only be booked for one party at a time, it is a great place to spend a few days relaxing in the tranquil natural surroundings.
This was our second time there. The place, the donkeys and Frank were great again. Thank you very much!
It was a super great stay at the Esel-Wiese. Frank is a great host. The welcome was really lovely and the place was really idyllic. The small guest box with lots of information material, guest book etc. is also great!
Frank gave us a very friendly welcome and explained the most important things to us. Electricity, V&E everything was great. And the sanitary facilities are fabulous. We were allowed to see his big donkey farm the next day. The animals are very friendly and had a very calming effect on us. We were very happy with the campsite and were able to stay an extra night. We can really recommend the place. Especially in combination with a donkey tour.
A wonderful view and a great bathroom. Everything you need and a very nice host.
Simply beautiful! Frank gave me a nice welcome, showed me around the pitch and told me a bit about the animal neighbors. During a short evening walk, a cow ran towards me and a deer looked over from the field from a distance. I also saw the first deer at sunrise. At the campsite, the donkey stallion came to greet me at the fence. Anyone who loves nature will definitely feel at home here.
Very helpful and easy to reach, which was great for us as we couldn't find the place at first. Once we arrived, we immediately fell in love with our fluffy neighbors. The next day we were given a tour of the farm. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend the place😊
We stayed for one night with a roof tent between the forest and the field next to the donkey meadow. The donkeys are close by and there is a fire pit and covered seating. We loved it and would love to come back!

Great place. A few hikers/cyclists pass by the meadow, otherwise completely alone. Pavilion, table and fire basket are available. The road is audible but did not bother us. We would love to come back

Super clean and really beautifully maintained pitch. A fantastic shower and clean WC. The only thing that was a shame was that you couldn't get to the donkeys and they were quite "far" away from the car. I would have liked to see them closer and learn a bit more about this special breed. Otherwise, super nice contact and helpful. I would come again at any time.
All good, nice and quiet, uncomplicated and a highlight for the children to watch the donkey stallion who was still in the pasture.

Very friendly and helpful hosts. The bathroom is a dream, ultra-modern with lovingly incorporated old treasures. The grounds are super well maintained and inviting. Me and my dogs loved staying here and will definitely be back.

Such a beautiful place, idyllically situated in the forest. We are so thrilled. The pavilion with the seating area is brilliant. The hosts are absolutely great. We'd been to Hamburg before, with endless crowds, and this was the perfect place to relax. Stork's nest with three young, donkeys were in a good mood and everything around was really inviting.
We spent a relaxing weekend here over Whitsun. It is a very nice place with a wide view of nature and the animals, including a pair of storks with chicks. Everything you need is within walking distance in the village and the place is also a good starting point for hikes or bike tours. We would love to come back.

We had a very nice 4 days with Frank and his family. The view from the pasture is great. You can watch the ponies , the chickens and of course the donkeys . They came back on Saturday. It is definitely worth a visit. Everything with great attention to detail even in the bathroom . Thank you very much :)
Very nice and dedicated operator. Unfortunately, the donkeys were not yet on site. But there were ponies, chickens and other animals. Good starting point for bicycle tours. The only thing that bothered us at night was the adjacent road. There was more traffic than expected. Otherwise everything was great.
Super communication, were warmly welcomed, bathroom was very well maintained and clean, as well as the pitch. -Unfortunately we didn't see any donkeys, but a pony and a few chickens 🐓

The spot is really recommendable. With a wide view of green meadows, chickens, storks and ponies as neighbors. Frank is a lovely host. The site is close to the village, but still quiet, and the Steinhuder Meer is also easy to reach by bike via beautiful paths.
It is a very nice, quiet place. The donkeys are very curious and really nice. The site is beautifully designed with a fireplace and a covered seating area. The Steinhuder Meer can be reached quickly and the cycle tour around the Steinhuder Meer is highly recommended.
I spent a truly idyllic time at the Eselweide RV park. Angela and Frank were not only extremely helpful, but also extremely friendly. The relaxed atmosphere and the natural surroundings made my stay an unforgettable experience. I can only highly recommend this place! We will be happy to come back again !

Simply highly recommended at Frank's. All thumbs up👍 On occasion we will be happy to come back! Small minus point was only the traffic noise in the morning and evening. (Rush hour) We are there perhaps also very clairaudient. But you get used to it quickly, so it does not really bother anymore. Otherwise, really very quiet during the day and a beautiful area to explore, discover and relax. What we particularly liked was the robust pavilion, which always provided shade in the scorching midday heat. So you could always change wonderfully between sun and shade and also enjoy the food in the shade without having to change the place. Simply ingenious!

Very nice place at the donkey pasture. Frank is a great host, our two toddlers had a lot of fun with the animals and thanks to the pavilion even a rainy afternoon was no problem at all. Thank you very much!
We booked at very short notice and everything worked out great. Nice quiet place with a view of the donkeys, goats, ponies, storks & chickens. Frank and his wife came to welcome and explain. Walking distance in town to walk in and restaurants. Great with kids.
A very nice place with really friendly hosts. You look at meadows with many different animals. We have stayed longer. Steinhuder Meer can be reached by bike in 50 min. The ride through a nature reserve is worth it.

It was a great stay. A very nice family that welcomed us. Direct location at the donkey pasture between chickens and cats. In about 400m are shopping and 2 restaurants. We can only recommend the place.

We were a weekend at Frank and the donkeys and it was quite wonderful. The whole family is super nice, you stand on a meadow behind the house with a direct view of donkeys, chickens, horses and storks :) we are walking to the Steinhuder Meer, great way which takes about 1 1/2 hours and leads through nature. We were certainly not the last time a guest :)
The stay with Frank his donkeys is ingenious. You don't have such a checkpoint every day. From there you can explore super in all directions by bike. We like to come back. LG oliver and Veit

On site everything as indicated. In the morning you are woken up by small chickens and during the day you can watch the donkey herd. The location is quiet and great for a stopover. There are also supermarkets within walking distance. The hosts are very nice and Frank even answers messages while on vacation - highly recommended!

Hello, for us it was the first Hinterland Camp trip, and we are thrilled. The place is exactly as described. The donkeys, the nature, the birds, the tranquility...., you can just enjoy your time here. We were especially thrilled with the sturdy Pavilion, which gave us the shade we needed, and of course the donkeys, beautiful large animals, a patient photo subject. At the same time, the place is an ideal starting point for very well signposted bike paths. Many bird watching stations and shady forests delighted us. We were as own owners of a Hinterland.camp place the first time on the road itself, it is enau as one imagines a Hinterland place. Far away from the hustle and bustle, in the middle of nature. This meadow is flat and there is enough space. Even a small covered sitting area with info box. And the neighbors (the donkeys) are of course the hit ;) Thank you for the hospitality, we will definitely come back again!

Wonderful hosts & a great morning donkey welcome. Dreamlike quiet place to sleep in nature, great pavilion to sit with small treasure chest filled with info, mosquito spray and games (super!), good mosquito spray do not forget, are many in the evening (that's nature:)) to recommend the small tour of the host with info on his donkey breeding. Drive up to the meadow also possible with medium-sized motorhome (7.49m length and 2.80m height we have). As soon as we are again in the area we come back.
I am just thrilled - perfect starting point for my bike tours - absolute peace - a host where you notice that he has really thought about his site - I'll be back :)
We were greeted friendly despite a somewhat late arrival and Frank and daughter still took time for our questions. The place is great, with fireplace, water pump (no drinking water) and a gazebo with table and on request a few chairs. In the middle of the forest in front of the paddock. The donkeys also show interest in visiting. Thank you for this great place.
The farm and the host are mega 😍 everything lovingly prepared and also everything in place what you need. But the best are the neighbors: The donkeys 😍

We were super friendly welcomed by the host family and brought to the pitch. What a wonderful spot on earth! We (2 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 dogs) have felt very comfortable! Everything you need to let your soul dangle, a large stable pavilion (rain protection / sun protection) with table and chairs, a fireplace and even card games only to be topped by the droll donkeys, you have to have seen them wonderful animals, this site offers pure nature, great opportunities to walk to Rehburg it is not far and the tip with the kebab store was great, we were even allowed to pet a donkey a highlight for the kids! What started as a spontaneous idea to test our camper (we live not far away) has developed into a real experience for the whole family. Thank you very much for the opportunity to escape from everyday life in this great place and all the best for you and the breeding, great what you have put on the legs! We like to come again

Wonderful place in the middle of nature, from here you can start directly by bike to the Steinhuder Meer or walk through the paddocks and forests. In between just sit under the huge gazebo (great idea, you stay outside even in the rain!) and watch the donkeys, you forget the everyday life immediately. Very nice host who cares but is not intrusive. We enjoyed it and will definitely come again!

We had the honor to be the 1st campers and met an idyllic place with warm hosts. The surroundings are pure nature and it is great to watch the donkeys - better than TV. Angela and Frank took time to welcome us and give us details about the donkeys - thank you! On top we could pass the time with provided card games. If you like crickets chirping, birds chirping and the occasional IA, this is the place for you. We will definitely come again!
