We are Vanessa and Marco—and Hof am Berg is the project close to our hearts.
Marco grew up in this region, surrounded by the mountains, steep slopes, farm work, and nature right on his doorstep. I, Vanessa, come from northern Germany—bringing with me a breath of fresh air, a broad perspective, and the straightforwardness typical of northern Germany.
Our two children are now growing up right between these two worlds: with a broad perspective—both geographically and in their thinking—and firmly rooted in the earth.
After we met, we quickly realized that we wanted to create something of our own. Our first joint project was an alpine pasture, which we managed with great dedication for five years.
Now we’re taking the next step: in 2024, we bought this old farm on the Kaunerberg. Since then, we’ve been pouring our energy, our hearts, and our hands into its restoration.
Here, we’re creating two vacation apartments, a small farm with animals and mountain meadows—and a place that’s allowed to evolve. At our own pace, with our own unique touch.
The parking lot in front of the house is quite large, and if you’re looking for a place to stay with a great view, you’ve come to the right place.

Vanessa is very welcoming; she came to see us even though it was late at night to chat and speak French with us. The location is beautiful, with an incredible view when you wake up.
A beautiful spot up on the mountain in the gravel parking lot in front of the family’s house (the house is under construction and is not yet occupied). You’re self-sufficient here with no utility hookups or waste disposal. I stayed here one night along with another family of campers. They were allowed to use the playground equipment and other facilities at the house. I was traveling alone, so I didn’t need to :) The drive up via a standard paved road is a bit narrow in places, but it’s easily manageable for cars and vans (luckily, there’s very little oncoming traffic). I wouldn’t recommend it for RVs, though! I find €30 for “just parking” to be quite expensive, but in return you get a beautiful view and are more or less alone. Vanessa herself wasn’t there, but the communication via the Hinterland app was very friendly. A lovely spot for one night and a good starting point for further excursions into the beautiful Kaunertal.
A place with a gorgeous view and super-friendly hosts!
A fantastic campsite—I slept more soundly than I have in a long time. It’s very quiet, with a breathtaking view and super-friendly hosts. I’d love to come back.
