We are centrally located between the towns of Straubing, Cham, and Viechtach, on the edge of the Bavarian Forest above the village of Stallwang, with the village square about a 5-minute walk away.

In addition to a bakery, pharmacy, home goods store, and bus stop, the village square... a restaurant serving good local cuisine and a small pizzeria.

As mentioned, our small farm is situated slightly above the edge of the village on the southern slope of the Gallnerberg, offering a beautiful panoramic view. Since we only have three alpacas and cats here, it’s also nice and quiet. Central yet secluded.

Dogs are very welcome.

After a hike of about 30–45 minutes, you’ll reach the summit of our local mountain, which—depending on the weather—offers a view of the Alps. We’re the starting point for circular hiking and biking trails, and the Goldsteig hiking trail also passes by us. You can also explore a castle ruin nearby.

A fire pit with a swivel grate is perfect for barbecuing. Firewood is available for a small fee. Restrooms, electricity (6A), fresh water, and gray water/composting toilet disposal are provided. Wi-Fi is available in the common room and in the courtyard area.

There is also an outdoor shower with hot water.

For social evenings and inclement weather, a cozy common room with an integrated kitchen and a wood-burning stove is available.

Upon arrival, guests are given a brief tour of the property.

  • Everything went really well, and I had a wonderful three days with my 10-year-old daughter. There are plenty of options for day trips in the area, whether you’re traveling with kids or just adults. The large common area with restrooms and a kitchen is also nice—that way, even if you’re driving a smaller vehicle, you won’t be stuck inside on rainy days.

  • Very friendly host—for people sleeping in a tent or roof tent, the B20 can be quite disruptive; those sleeping in a car won’t hear the traffic as loudly. Host’s response: Thank you very much for your feedback. The B20 is about 2 km away, and our guests generally do not find it disruptive. Under certain wind and weather conditions, some noise may occasionally be audible—though, of course, personal perception varies. Our site is located in a quiet, natural setting, and most guests greatly appreciate precisely this sense of relaxation, the view, and the rural atmosphere. With this addition, we hope to provide future guests with as balanced a picture as possible.

  • Johann gave us a very warm welcome. The Berghof is a little piece of paradise and is lovingly run by Johann and his family. There are restrooms, a kitchen with a cozy lounge, and an outdoor shower with hot water. And the location is fantastic—we had a wonderful view of the solar eclipse and, in general, the sunset. The surrounding area is perfect for hiking—beautiful nature and great trails. We felt completely at home. Thank you so much!

  • Great hosts, a fantastic spot right across from the alpacas, and a spacious, warm outdoor shower. Thank you so much—if we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely come back.

  • Highly recommended! We were actually planning to try camping, but then the sleeping barrel became available on short notice, and so a long-cherished dream of my husband’s came true 🍀 There’s a common room with a kitchen, an outdoor shower with pleasantly warm water, and loooads of nature and peace and quiet 🍀 We really enjoyed our time here and would love to come back 🍀 Thank you so much again for the super-friendly welcome and the wonderful stay 🍀
