We welcome you to our idyllically situated campsite, "Eisenbahn trifft Land Romantik."

Do you love watching trains? Watching sheep or simply enjoying beautiful sunsets? Watching the horses as they gallop carefree across the pasture?

Fresh eggs from the chicken coop for breakfast? Hearing the tractor in the field or just sitting back and watching the exciting trains between Treuchtlingen and Gunzenhausen? Then you’ve come to the right place!

Do you have kids with you? We’d love to have you!! Our large, natural meadow is perfect for running around, playing, and exploring.

Starting around Easter, you’ll find sheep, a tomcat, and some chickens, quails, and rabbits here. Adjacent to the property, horses graze in their paddock.

Our campsite is located behind our farmstead, offering a wonderful view and fantastic evening sun. From around April through November, you can set up right next to the inhabited sheep pasture. Would you rather be near the railroad tracks or the wheat field? No problem—feel free to choose your spot together with us.

You’ll find us in the beautiful Franconian Lake District, about 50 km southwest of Nuremberg/Middle Franconia, in the small village of Aha, right next to the charming town of Gunzenhausen. From here, you can easily explore Lake Altmühl, the Small and Large Brombach Lakes, or even the Roth and Igelsbach Lakes. The trails here are perfect for a long bike ride or just a short exploratory loop. In the summer, the lakes offer a welcome chance to cool off.

Distance to the bike path along the Altmühl River: 300 meters

Distance to Lake Altmühl: 4 km

Distance to Small Brombach Lake: 10 km

Distance to Large Brombach Lake: 15 km

Distance to Gunzenhausen: 1 km (groceries, etc.)

The towns of Weißenburg, Treuchtlingen, and Ansbach also invite you to linger and stroll.

We welcome vehicles of all sizes. Using a gas grill is no problem at all. However, since we are located in a very rural area, we ask that you refrain from using charcoal.

Upon request, you are welcome to use our camping toilet for an additional fee. Our small tent provides privacy.

A fully stocked refrigerator is now available for you. There you’ll find cold drinks, fresh eggs, a few treats, and ice cream for a quick refreshment. Payment is simple and based on trust. You can also refill your fresh water here. A donation box is available for a small contribution.

The parking spot accommodates 4 people and 1 vehicle! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions

The communication leading up to our visit was very friendly. Getting there was easy, thanks to the signage. We were greeted very warmly upon arrival and given a quick tour of the place. We even received a very sweet welcome gift, which we really appreciated. A fridge with a tip jar, rabbits, sheep, and quails, plus plenty of space—it’s a great place to stay. The kids saw the freight trains passing by regularly as a challenge to count the cars 🙃. Thank you so much for the warm welcome and your open hospitality!

We were parked at a good distance from the railroad tracks on the spacious grounds, with a beautiful view of the countryside. Right from the campsite, you can set out on wonderful bike rides to the surrounding lakes, the Altmühl Valley, the Würnitz River, and more. Kathrin made it easy for us to cancel and reschedule at the last minute. We had three wonderful days in Aha and the surrounding area.

Friendly and easygoing hosts. Beautiful, flat meadow (Note: Drive across the courtyard; don’t take the steep side ramp). The train station is 50 meters away; otherwise, you have a view stretching into the distance. During the day, about 2–3 trains pass by per hour, mostly small regional trains, sometimes a car train. It didn’t bother me. You can take lovely walks along the river and through the floodplains. I really liked it and would love to come back 😊

Great hosts, quick and friendly communication, and a huge meadow - everything was perfect.
