We are located in three regions, amidst the green hills of Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria. Between the magnificent city of Orvieto and the picturesque Lake Bolsena.

In a 900-hectare nature reserve called "La Renara", which has been closed to hunting for over 30 years.

In the immediate vicinity are the sources of the oligomineral waters of Tione (from which the agriturismo takes its name).

The land on which the farm is located today has probably been intensively used and inhabited by man since the beginning of the 17th century. Numerous traces of this distant past have been preserved in this landscape: centuries-old oak and chestnut trees, old farm roads and ancient buildings such as the caves for housing the sheep, the stables for the pigs and part of the farmhouse, which today houses three of the five apartments of the agriturismo: Torretta, Stradone and Orciolaio.

THE FARM YESTERDAY

The land was enriched with organic matter such as manure and perennials. We cultivated our fields by interspersing plants and using seeds adapted to the climate and soil. There were also many fruit trees of different species so that we could have fresh fruit all year round.

The main crops were wheat, barley, sunflowers, corn and grapes, which were grown in three small vineyards and produced a light but good wine.

The fodder and other products were mainly intended for feeding our cattle breeding of the prized "Chianina" breed.

Then, in the early 1950s, "progress" came to the fields, and with it many old knowledge and cultivation techniques, traditions, tastes and eating habits were put aside, almost forgotten, remaining only in the memory of some old farmers.

THE FARM TODAY

The Valle del Tione farm covers an area of about 43 hectares, where mainly cereals, fodder and nuts are grown. A small part of the farm is dedicated to olive groves and vegetable gardens. In October, porcini mushrooms are harvested in the forest.

In 1985, it was decided to abandon intensive cultivation and the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, with the primary aim of promoting the improvement and maintenance of the chemical, physical and biological fertility of the soil and restoring natural areas useful for the ecological balance, such as hedges, ditches, ponds and groves.

Thirty years later, the first objective has been achieved in that important environmental indicators have returned and repopulate the area. These include the Geppio and the Raganella (Hyla arborea).

In addition to agricultural activity, agritourism represents an important economic resource of the farm, which after its restructuring in 2004 is becoming an important reality year after year, to which we dedicate ourselves with great commitment in order to offer a good level of hospitality while constantly improving the quality of services.
