Important: The campsites have no electricity, water, or restroom facilities. Therefore, you must be self-sufficient. The campsite is intended solely for camping in nature—not for parties!
For a long time, this farm—located in Baumgarten, 2 km southwest of Albaching—was used for traditional dairy farming. The farm’s history dates back to the 15th century, when the Grundlhof was first mentioned in historical records. The property also features one of Bavaria’s oldest half-timbered barns (built in 1692).
After the farm was handed over to its current owners, Elisabeth and Georg Preuß, it was converted to organic farming with a focus on suckler cow herding, and the production of organic products began. With a farm size of approximately 20 ha, the Grundlhof is one of the smaller estates.
We can offer 2 campsites (No. 1 and No. 2) at the Grundlweiher pond, which belongs to the Grundlhof. It’s a great stopover on your way south. It’s also perfect for a short getaway to relax, go biking or hiking, or visit the beautiful historic town of Wasserburg am Inn. The county seat of Rosenheim is about 35 km away. Shopping is available in Albaching (about 2 km away).
Note: No camping allowed! Only for RVs with on-board restroom facilities on the designated sites No. 1 and No. 2.

Beautiful location and easy check-in, but privacy issues and noise ruined our stay. The pond is a popular gathering spot in the village, so you have to expect constant visitors. At one point, a drone was even hovering directly above our campsite, pointed right at us… very creepy. The property boundaries are unclear. We’d set up at the fire pit, only to find out hours later from a neighbor that it was on his private property. At night, loud music blared from a nearby cabin from 2 to 5 a.m., making sleep impossible. To top it all off, the host completely ignored my message describing these issues after we left. Beautiful nature, but not worth the hassle.
The site itself is very nice, and the campsites are clean and easy to access. Unfortunately, it’s quite close to the road, which has more traffic than described. In addition, there was a lot of activity and a party going on in the cabin next door, so you can’t really say it’s undisturbed. We think the price is a bit steep for that.
Our stay at Hinterland Camp was simply wonderful. If you're looking for peace and quiet, nature, and a break from everyday life, this is the place for you. The location is beautifully close to nature and pleasantly secluded—perfect for unwinding. We highly recommend it—we'd come back anytime!
