Camping on the "Green Island"

We live on a beautiful farm property spanning nearly 2 hectares, with horses, dogs, cats, and guinea pigs, right in the middle of the countryside. This includes our natural, wild park area with a diverse mix of trees, fruit trees, and many quiet spots to relax. Our farm is like a small green island, completely surrounded by fields and far away from traffic noise and dense development.

We make our green island available to self-sufficient campers and offer three campsites. If needed, however, we can help out with water, electricity, or other necessities upon request.

The camping area is located on a large meadow at the back of our park. Here you’ll find plenty of space, peace, and nature right outside your RV door or tent. You’re also welcome to bring horses, donkeys, or other grass-eating animals. Thanks to our own stable and existing infrastructure, the conditions here are ideal. Our ponies also love visitors and, by arrangement, are happy to be groomed and petted. :-)

Bringing your own animals is also possible by arrangement. Just ask us—a lot is possible. :-)

Depending on the season, you’re welcome to help yourselves to the many fruits on our property. Raspberries, blackberries, red currants, gooseberries, strawberries, elderberries, as well as apples, pears, plums, mirabelle plums, and quinces provide delicious natural snacks straight from the tree or bush from early summer well into fall.

If you’d like, you can explore the grounds or spend a cozy evening by the campfire. Firewood from our farm can be purchased by arrangement for a small additional fee.

The surrounding area also offers numerous opportunities for excursions and activities. The Große Torfmoor is perfect for walks, birdwatching, and enjoying nature. The Wiehengebirge mountains, with their hiking and biking trails, are also very close by. The historic city of Minden, with its waterway junction, old town, and many sights, is within easy reach.

A special highlight in the summer is the Mindener Wald swimming lake, which is only about 5 kilometers away and can be easily reached by bike. If you need help with your bike in an emergency, we’re happy to lend a hand ;-)

Also worth a visit is the Gernheim Glass Museum with its historic glassworks and many great activities for all ages!

One more little “green” note: Our farm is home to pond frogs and tree frogs, which especially like to make their presence known on warm summer evenings. Although the campground is a bit further away, you might still be able to hear the frog chorus depending on the season. It’s definitely a special—and loud—nature experience on our farm.. :-)
