It is bordered by the small towns of Dahlen, Belgern and Schildau. The area, which is partly covered with dense mixed pine forests, is around 150 km² in size. Numerous well-marked hiking and cycling trails open up the area, which is used by many holidaymakers and recreation seekers every year.
