"When I see the lake—I don't need the ocean anymore..."
In the heart of the "Wetterau Lake District," your camping spot awaits on a nearly 600-square-meter recreational property on the outskirts of Trais-Horloff (a district of Hungen).
Right next door: “Oberer Knappensee” (nature reserve) and, nearby, the beautiful swimming lake (Trais-Horloff/Inheiden). You’ll have plenty of space on the meadow, and the following amenities are available: a (lockable) cabin for storing your belongings (unfortunately not for overnight stays), tables and chairs plus a parasol, a ground-cooled refrigerator, and a simple dry toilet. A stone grill and a campfire pit, as well as small items such as folding chairs to take with you to the lake, are waiting for you.
Upon request, we can provide fresh tap water (in jugs).
We’re more than happy to accommodate your individual requests (e.g., providing beverages, a barbecue package, breakfast, or a tent). Just let us know!
If you’re staying a few days longer, we’d be happy to help arrange excursions (e.g., special animal-themed experiences: a goat picnic or pony ride, etc.). Biking and hiking here at the foot of the Vogelsberg are truly wonderful. There are plenty of great recreational opportunities.
Vehicles can be parked right “around the corner” (not on the property due to nature conservation regulations). A cozy restaurant with a beer garden is within walking distance. There are numerous restaurants and shops (including pharmacies) in the immediate vicinity.
If you’re looking for a quiet spot in nature but still appreciate having “civilization” within easy reach (e.g., by bike), then “Seensucht” is absolutely the right place for you.
Dogs are always welcome here!
However, the property isn’t completely fenced off to be “dog-proof,” so please keep your furry friends secured so they can’t leave the property unsupervised.
Dogs must also be kept on a leash in the directly adjacent nature reserve.
Note about the swimming lake: Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the sunbathing lawns by the lake. However, there are two specially designated dog swimming areas at the lake 🐕 😊
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate large groups or “party guests.”
We look forward to seeing you!
Let us know your requests or questions!
Our motto: “Nothing is impossible!”
Note: When you book with us, you’re always booking the entire property, meaning you’ll have the place to yourselves (no other guests at the same time).

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway in a beautiful setting, Susanne's place is the perfect choice. The arrangements were straightforward and super friendly—you feel right at home. The place is idyllic, clean, and exactly as described. Everything was great—we'll definitely be back!
It was a really nice spot—it was quiet and just a short walk to the lake. Something that should be mentioned in the description is that the water you fill up in the canister isn't drinking water.
A truly lovely place with very, very friendly hosts. They provided us with everything we needed, and we had a cozy four days during which we were able to enjoy the proximity to the swimming lake and the adjacent nature reserve. Thank you very much!
What a beautiful place! We were welcomed personally, we had everything we needed, and we’d come back anytime. It’s perfect for families, too—many thanks to our hosts.
This was our second time here, and we highly recommend this place and the hosts. We felt very comfortable here. Thank you both so much.
