At the mill tower by the goats (single pitch, sauna)

Welcome to our Kotten! Nice that you have found us.

You are standing on a large meadow on the east side of our farm. If you like, you can find shade under the trees. You are welcome to come with several vehicles and bring your pets (please keep them on a lead so that all animals can live here in peace). You have the option of using our barrel sauna and you are welcome to borrow our fire bowl.

Note: In dry periods, you can stand in various places on the meadow. In rainy times, you can stand near our farm, right next to the goat meadow. This area is paved and the ground is sandy.

You camp next to/under our willow tree with a view of our mill tower and the farm building. The mill tower is always a highlight. It was built at the end of 1800 and lost its wings early on due to a fire. The mill was then powered by a combined heat and power plant until it ceased operation. Today, the tower is a monument and is home to kestrels, owls and corvids. The kestrels breed in a window of the tower and you can watch the young falcons breed and attempt to fly in spring. At night, you can often hear the call of our owls. There are also lots of hares and pheasants here, and every now and then, albeit rarely, you will see a deer.

The meadow is lined with many young fruit trees of old, dying varieties, which we planted as part of the NABU orchard project to protect old fruit varieties from extinction in the long term. The trees are now bearing fruit, which you are welcome to help yourself to.

Our two goats 🐐🐐 Azrael and Lavender live next to the meadow. Although they are shy, they are always happy to see guests because they are very curious and like to observe.

The meadow with the pitch is directly adjacent to our farm. If you would like to be on your own in a quieter spot, then you should book our single pitch on the orchard meadow south of the mill - it also has a swing and a small sandpit and lots of old fruit trees and berry bushes to snack on.

🔅Optional you can book your own bathroom cottage with WC and shower. The hot water supply is provided by an instantaneous water heater (38 degrees).

🔅We have provided a fridge with various drinks (water, Spezi, beer, wine) for you. You can also get eggs from happy chickens there.

🔅You are welcome to use our barrel sauna and the rain shower under the lime tree

🔅You are also welcome to borrow our fire bowl. You can buy wood from us or bring your own.

💰Prices

▫️Der Price refers to a vehicle with max. two persons, without use of the bath house. 4 kWh electricity/night are included

▫️optional: Bathroom house with shower (10 euros/night on top, cash on site)

▫️ab The third person incurs additional costs, which you pay in cash on site: Adults (from 16 years) 5 euros without/10 euros with use of bathroom, children from 4 years 3 euros without/7 euros with bathroom per night.

🚐 Arrival/departure times: Arrival from 2 pm, departure until 1 pm. If no one is there before you/arrives after you, you are welcome to arrive earlier/later.

🚗 🚜🏍️ Noises: Here you have the peace and quiet of country life on the one hand and the noises of country life on the other. Sometimes a tractor or lawnmower is running or there are other noises.

You are standing in the countryside; at the same time, a road runs past our farm 100 meters away (see the last two photos). If the field between the meadow and the road is cultivated, you will be very quiet, otherwise you will hear more or less noise depending on the wind direction and traffic.

Pets 🐕🐈: I have already written above that pets are very welcome here. They don't cost anything and you are welcome to bring more than one pet with you. By booking, you accept the following rules: 1. please inform us in advance that you have animals on board. 2. please secure the animals on our property at all times (drag leash etc.). 3. guests who allow their animals to run free despite this agreement must leave the site immediately. Costs will not be refunded in this case.

I have put together a little booklet with things to see and do that I will send you when you book and that you can use for inspiration.

🔅Shopping facilities (groceries) 1 km away. Shopping streets in Drensteinfurt, Ahlen and Hamm 10 km away (beautiful cycle paths there).

🔅You will find numerous opportunities for regional and Mediterranean food in Ahlen, Münster and Hamm.

🥐 A large grocery store with bakery, two restaurants, a snack bar, the post office and doctors are within walking distance.

🥾🚲 Several beautiful cycling and hiking routes run alongside our mill - either directly into the industrial culture or into the nature of the Münsterland. The start of the Werseradweg cycle path is very close by. You can also join the 100 Castles Route from here.

💦 You will also find bathing and hiking lakes in the surrounding area (20-35 km).

🌳 Forests can be reached by bike.

🛶 Canoe and kayak trips on the Werse or Lippe rivers are available in the surrounding area.

🔅You can get to Münster, Dortmund and Hamm quickly by car or train or visit small, typical Münsterland towns. In my opinion, Münster in particular is worth a day trip. And Holland is not far away either. And of course the Ruhr region with its industrial culture.

🧒👦 If you're looking for day trip destinations for your children, here are a few tips: Münster has a wonderful all-weather zoo, a planetarium, the mill museum and the Aasee lake, where you can go pedal boating. In Hamm there is the Maxipark.
