Are you looking for a quiet place to stay for one night while passing through, or would you like to spend a few days surrounded by nature?

Then you’re most welcome!

Nature right at your doorstep

My property, which is about one hectare in size, is located right on the edge of the forest in the beautiful Fläming Nature Park, away from major roads and far from the hustle and bustle of traditional campgrounds. Here, it’s all about peace, nature, and a relaxed atmosphere.

There’s also plenty to discover on the property. A few chickens are part of the farm and roam freely—with a little luck, you might even spot some little chicks.

Nearby Attractions

The site is located just about 10 km from the A9 highway, making it ideal for a stopover on the route between Berlin and the Leipzig/Halle metropolitan area. But you might enjoy it so much that you’ll want to stay a few days longer—there’s plenty to discover in the surrounding area.

The Bräsen Observatory is a special experience. Its quiet location offers excellent conditions for observing the starry sky and even the sun.

And there’s plenty to see right from the Merlin Hof as well: Almost every evening, the sky dazzles with beautiful sunsets and ever-changing, impressive colors.

If you’d like to explore the surrounding area, you’ll find numerous interesting destinations:

Camping, Tent Camping & More

Whether you’re traveling by RV, camper, trailer, car, or tent—you and your four-legged companions are warmly welcome here.

At Merlin Hof, there are individual campsites offering plenty of privacy and ample space for yourself. This way, you can enjoy your stay in peace.

A newly built small vacation home has also recently been added to the property; it features three bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower and hot water, and a kitchen, and can be rented separately.

If the vacation home is not currently occupied, campers on the property may use the bathroom in the vacation home by arrangement.

For even more relaxation, there’s also a sauna available on the property.

Use of the sauna is available for an additional fee and can be arranged individually with the host.

And there are already plans for even more comfort:

A separate restroom building with toilets and showers is planned for spring 2027, which will make the stay even more pleasant for our camping and tent guests.

Personal & Uncomplicated

I live here myself, surrounded by nature, and look forward to meeting people from different countries with diverse travel stories.

In addition to my native language, German, I speak fluent English, as well as some Russian and Spanish.

After 30 years working for a multinational corporation, I now enjoy my life as a freelancer, with plenty of time and peace and quiet in nature.

A small, nature-oriented spot

Please note that this is not a traditional campground with entertainment, large restroom facilities, or an extensive range of recreational activities.

The Merlin Hof is a small, intimate, and nature-oriented campground and tent site for people who seek peace and quiet, enjoy being outdoors, and appreciate a laid-back atmosphere.

Whether you’re just passing through for one night, coming with a tent, staying a few days in your RV, or want to rent the vacation home—you’re very welcome!

How did the “Merlin Hof” get its name?

The farm’s name is a tribute to our very special white Labrador, Merlin.

He charmed us from the very first moment and gave this place its name.

What this place offers

Basics

  • Toilet

A restroom is also available for your use.

It is located in a separate vacation home on the property and can be used when that vacation home is not booked.

  • Dogs welcome

There's plenty of space for dogs. There are no extra charges. There are wolves in the area, though I haven't seen one yet ;).

  • Cats welcome

Cats are welcome, as long as my chicks—which occasionally hatch among a small flock of chickens—are left alone ;).

  • Electricity

You can plug in if you're not too far from the power source—that is, on the left side of the meadow as seen from the house. No meter readings or extra charges. Free power :).

  • Shower

A shower is also available for your use.

It is located in a separate vacation home on the property and can be used when that vacation home is not booked.

  • Water

No fresh water connection. Well connection available in case service water is needed.

  • Cell phone reception

    Network availability is usually good.

  • Campfire allowed

Please note fire protection. I can provide a fire bowl. Vin November to March allowed.

  • Barbecue allowed

Please observe fire safety precautions; we are located at the edge of the forest.

  • Other (house rules)

There are no official house rules, but even though the neighbors live far away, please be quiet from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Around the accommodation

  • Farm shop

    I don’t have a traditional farm stand.

But if you’d like, you can get mineral water, beer, fresh eggs from my happy chickens, and sometimes even honey from a local beekeeper.

When I have the time and the chance, I also serve freshly brewed coffee.

All for a small, fair surcharge.

  • Waste disposal

I can dispose of yellow and blue bins and organic waste, as well as general waste in moderate amounts.

  • Sauna

There is a sauna, and plenty of firewood is available.

Use of the sauna is available by arrangement and is offered for a small, reasonable additional fee.

  • Grey water disposal

If necessary, this would be possible.

  • Pool

There is no pool, but there is a bathing area in the immediate vicinity.

  • Bike rental

If you'd like to explore the area by bike, I can provide bicycles by arrangement. There is a fee for rentals, but it's very reasonable.

Activities

  • Hiking

Excellent opportunities in the nearby forests

  • Swimming

For the brave in the nearby water, one km away, refreshing water temperature thanks to natural tributaries

  • Playing by the water

Bathing water available 400 m away.

  • Cycling

No dedicated bike lanes, but cycling on the surrounding streets is perfectly possible

  • Fishing

I have a fishing license for nearby waters, but I'm not familiar with the local regulations for visiting anglers.
