Ehwiesmühle: A Place of Tranquility—Spend the Night by the Murmuring Stream

On the grounds of an old sawmill in the small hamlet of Ehwiesmühle, you can spend a peaceful night far away from the noise of traffic. If the cows are out roaming the neighboring meadow again, though, you can expect to hear the sound of cowbells 😊. The property is located near the A7 highway, between two forests at the end of a dead-end road.

The two small streams flowing through the property offer a refreshing dip whenever you like. One small stream was specially created so that children can play there safely, since the larger one is too dangerous for them. For adults, though, it’s great to lie down in it and cool off. The water level varies, but it’s always cold and refreshing. (As of August 2026: only one stream still has water; the other has mostly dried up due to a water shortage.) Another new addition is an old bathtub that can be filled with spring water and is perfect for playing with water or washing up.

From there, you can set off in any direction and enjoy beautiful walks, bike rides, or mountain bike tours. It’s important to note, however, that you’ll have very little to no cell service there. You should make sure everything is available offline beforehand 😉 or follow the many trail markers.

That said, there’s also something very liberating about being out and about without cell service 😋

Because at night, once the sun has set, you’ll have an unparalleled view of the starry sky—it’s so beautifully dark back there ✨ You can safely leave your phone in your pocket.

If you’d like, feel free to use the fire pit for grilling. It’s best to bring your own charcoal. Firewood is available upon request for an additional fee.

If you’d like to do some shopping, you can do so at the village store in Wolfertschwenden or at various shops in Bad Grönenbach. We highly recommend a pizza from Pizzeria La Pineta across from the Bad Grönenbach train station. You’ll have to pick it up yourself, though 🤗

What this place offers

Basics

  • Toilet

We have NO bathroom facilities—just an outdoor solar shower. Please bring your own toilet ;)

THE FOREST IS NOT A TOILET!

  • Dogs welcome

Be careful, the property is surrounded by forest. And of course, but that's obvious anyway, take EVERYTHING back with you 😉.

  • Cats welcome

  • Electricity

    3€ per night

  • Shower

Washing possible with or without soap in the bathtub and at the solar shower on the property. See pictures

  • Water

Spring water can be drawn from a tap. However, this water is not tested. I personally have been drinking it for a long time 😊

  • Cell phone reception

Reception varies from provider to provider, but unfortunately always poor 😁.

  • Campfire allowed

Fire bowl and grill grid can be used. There is a three-legged construction for the grill grid, which is placed above the fire bowl. Attach the grill grid with the chain at the top. Wood can be booked in addition.

  • Firewood

    5€ per usage/unit

  • Barbecue allowed

For the fire bowl there is a grill grate and three-legged construction. See campfire.

If you add Wi-Fi to your booking, we'll send you the password for the guest network. It's currently in the trial phase. ;)

    3€ per stay

  • Wheelchair accessible

The property is barrier-free, but not paved. See pictures.

  • Fenced

The property is fenced in, though on one side it is bordered only by the stream.

  • Other (house rules)

I ask that you leave the property in good order. I ask smokers and dog owners to take EVERYTHING with them when they leave. We have received a complaint that campers are relieving themselves in the woods; this is prohibited and may result in legal action. Unfortunately, I must (as of Aug. 26) point this out directly. Thank you very much.

Around the accommodation

  • Playground

There is a swing with climbing tower and slide and a wooden horse on the property.

Activities

  • MTB

  • Playing by the water

The two small streams that flow through the property offer a great opportunity to play in the water, especially on hot days, but be careful, the larger stream has a current and there is still the old mill at the end of the property. Always supervise children. A second stream has been created especially for children. See photos.

  • A very nice place to stay, and a helpful host.

  • A nice little campsite. Cell phone reception isn’t great, but that didn’t bother us, and we took a day to do a digital detox. Wi-Fi is available upon request. The little stream is a great place to cool off your feet on a hot summer day. There’s a cute orange cat that sometimes shows up.

  • Lovely spot, as described. our daughter loved all the animals and the small walks we went on in the evening and early morning. The people that live nearby are very friendly. Camp fire spot adjacent to where the tents go, and could be limited space if all three spots are using tents. But we shared with a camper van and ourselves used tents. This was lovely.

  • A beautiful little spot. Just as described, very easy to reach from the highway. Lots of nature and a peaceful atmosphere—great for a short or longer stay. A nice hostess who provided a great, detailed explanation in advance and was very easy to reach. We were given a very warm welcome by the hostess’s mother. We were unlucky that someone else had already set up camp there for a longer stay—a very nice family, but with three children. On top of that, the grandparents were smoking on their property—right behind our RV. To make matters worse, visitors arrived late in the afternoon and parked their cars all around us, and the neighbors were also sitting outside their door watching the commotion. As a result, we didn’t get the peace and quiet we’d hoped for, nor the space that the hostess surely offers under normal circumstances. We ended up leaving after all because there were too many people.

  • We had some bad luck with the weather, but the place itself is beautiful. Fresh air, a babbling brook, and the sound of crickets chirping.
