Felix-Cabin in the woods-
Yes, you have read correctly! We still have a free guest house on our farm in southern Sweden, which we would like to rent to a nice family with children. The period would be one to two weeks from 20.07.23 to early August.
You are traveling with a camper or tent and are looking for an exceptional pitch? We also have pitches for 1-2 motorhomes. Please see our other advertisement.
We, that is Frida (8 years), Thekla and Felix (mid-forties from the big city), will be on site ourselves at this time and live in a converted part of the old barn.
After two Corona summers without visitors, we are looking forward to having company on our farm again and are looking for a family to join us at short notice.
We are not so much interested in renting out our vacation home as lucratively as possible, but rather in having nice and relaxed company for ourselves and playmates for our daughter Frida. But don't worry-this doesn't mean that we expect to hang out with each other all the time. We just don't want to be there all alone.
What you need to know before you start typing:
The farm is an offgrid property, meaning it's not connected to the public power, water or sewer system. Instead, it lies lonely and deep in the Småland forest. In the wilderness.
Cabin in the woods is what the Americans call it. So you are embarking on an adventure.
Electricity is produced by solar panels, domestic water is supplied by a rainwater system and drinking water in canisters from the local campsite.
The concept is simple: to have a good time and experience the Swedish wilderness in a decelerated and natural way.
But this also includes some things that must be completely and unmistakably clear to you in advance:
Plum toilet instead of porcelain bowl, outdoor shower instead of spa area and lots of wild animals. There are moose, wild boar, badgers, foxes, snakes and a fluctuating but mostly healthy population of mice and lemmings on our grounds. Birds of all kinds, ravens and buzzards engage in small skirmishes and now and then you can see the white-tailed eagle circling in the sky. In the evening the toads come out of their holes and enjoy a richly laid table of numerous insects. You are close to nature with all that this brings with it. This is great not only for the children. Building wooden huts, picking blueberries, catching the first fish with a fishing rod, sitting around the campfire and whittling, archery or just playing with sticks and stones. In our experience, kids don't need much here to keep them busy all day.
If you want to take a shower, you have to be tough and take a cold shower or heat your own water over the fire. Every action has to be done by yourself, nothing is automated. Light switches there are a total of 4! on the whole farm, instead we use candles and oil lamps. Simple, decelerated and close to nature experience-is the motto here.
To the guest house:
The typical Falun red Swedish house is about 65 square meters and was long ago the hayloft of the farm. It offers sleeping places for two adults and 2-3 children. In the kitchen you will find a gas stove and a solar-powered cooler. The necessary solar power you have to harvest yourself and make sure that the associated power station is always sufficiently charged. This is also used to power the lights and to charge phones and laptops.
In addition to the shared outdoor shower and the separate toilet, there is a camping toilet in the guest house for those who do not want to brave the yard at night to do their little business.
In the bathhouse you can wash yourself over an enamel bowl with warm water and of course there is also a sauna available.
There are various bathing places in about 15/20 min (by car) distance. Both to the bathing lake and to the Baltic Sea it is not too far and both captivates with gently sloping bathing places which are suitable for (small) children. And on the property we have our own small moor lake with perch and rudd in it.
Shopping for physical well-being can be done in the village (13 min drive), or in one of the two district towns with a larger range of stores of all kinds (each about 20 min drive). And of course there is also a hospital and emergency room - in case you twist your ankle.
If all this has not scared you off but appeals to you, then hit the keys now. Write us a nice message and tell us about yourself.
Free cancellation up to 30 days before arrival. Or within 48 hours of booking, up to one day before arrival.
