-Cabin in the woodss-

Yes, you have read correctly! We still have a vacant guest house on our farm in southern Sweden, which we would like to rent to a nice family with children. The period would be 7-10 days from 25.07.25 to the beginning of August.

Are you traveling with a motorhome or tent and looking for an exceptional pitch? We also have pitches for 1-2 motorhomes. Please see our other advertisement.

We, Frida (10 years old), Thekla and Felix (in our mid-forties from the city), will be there ourselves at this time and will be staying in a converted part of the old barn.

After two corona summers without visitors, we are looking forward to having company on our farm again and are looking for a family who would like to join us at short notice.

We are less interested in renting out our vacation home as lucratively as possible and more interested in having nice and relaxed company for us and playmates for our daughter Frida. But don't worry-this doesn't mean that we expect to hang out with each other all the time. We just don't want to be there all by ourselves.

What you need to know before you hit the keys:

The farm is an off-grid property, meaning it's not connected to the public electricity, water or sewage system. Instead, it is isolated and deep in the Småland forest. In the wilderness.

Cabin in the woods is what the Americans call it. So you are embarking on an adventure.

We produce electricity with solar panels, we get water from a rainwater system and drinking water in canisters from the local campsite.

The concept is simple: slow down, have a good time close to nature and experience the Swedish wilderness.

However, this also includes a few things that need to be completely and unequivocally clear to you in advance:

Plum loo instead of porcelain bowl, outdoor shower instead of spa area and lots of wild animals. There are moose, wild boar, badgers, foxes, snakes and a fluctuating but mostly healthy population of mice and lemmings on our site. Birds of all kinds, ravens and buzzards engage in small skirmishes and from time to time you can see the white-tailed eagle circling in the sky. In the evening, the common toads come out of their holes and enjoy a richly laid table of insects. You are close to nature and all that this entails. This is not just great for the children. Building wooden huts, picking blueberries, catching your first fish with a fishing rod, sitting around the campfire and carving, archery or simply playing with sticks and stones. In our experience, children don't need much to keep them busy all day.

If you want a shower, you have to be tough and take a cold shower - or heat your own water over the fire. You have to do everything yourself, nothing is automated. There are a total of 4 light switches on the whole farm, instead we use candles and oil lamps. The motto here is simple, decelerated and close to nature.

To the guest house:

The typical Falun red Swedish house is about 65 square meters in size and was once the farm's hayloft. It sleeps two adults and 2-3 children. In the kitchen there is a gas hob and a solar-powered cool box. You have to harvest the necessary solar power yourself and make sure that the associated power station is always sufficiently charged. This is also used to power the lights and charge phones and laptops.

In addition to the communal outdoor shower and the separate toilet, there is a camping loo in the guest house for those who don't want to have to go to the toilet at night.

In the bathhouse you can wash yourself over an enamel bowl with warm water and of course there is also a sauna.

There are various bathing spots about 15/20 minutes away (by car). Both the bathing lake and the Baltic Sea are not too far away and both have gently sloping bathing areas that are suitable for (small) children. And on the property we have our own small moor lake with perch and rudd in it.

You can do your shopping in the village (13 minutes by car) or in one of the two district towns with a wide range of stores of all kinds (each about 20 minutes' drive). And of course there is also a hospital and emergency room - just in case you twist your ankle.

If all this hasn't put you off but appeals to you, then get in touch now. Write us a nice message and tell us about yourself.

Free cancellation up to 30 days before arrival. Or within 48 hours of booking, up to one day before arrival.
