Vreden is a small town with about 24,000 residents near the Dutch border.

Nature reserves and great cycling trails (for road and mountain biking) are just a stone’s throw away. The Zwillbrocker Venn, known as the northernmost natural breeding ground for wild flamingos, is located on the Flamingo Route, for example. The 100 Castles Route is also very popular among cyclists. An off-road mountain bike trail connects the neighboring village of Allstätte with the Dutch city of Enschede.

You can also explore the woods on foot and enjoy nature.

A grocery store and a country-style restaurant are just 3 km away.

Additionally, the Berkel River offers the opportunity to go on a canoe trip. An outdoor swimming pool and public tennis and basketball courts are just a few minutes’ drive away.

The Dutch cities of Enschede and Winterswijk are only about 19 km away. As is customary in Holland, there is a market here twice a week.

About the sites:

Hi Christoph. Contrary to what you said, we were there; we even spoke with you and agreed that the sheep pasture wouldn’t work because of our dog. The other two spots you offered weren’t accessible by car. We then left and even told you that you were welcome to keep the payment we’d already made.

It was absolutely wonderful, surrounded by sheep and cows—it was cozy and we really enjoyed it. We even got some delicious duck eggs for breakfast as a gift—thumbs up!

A very beautiful meadow between the sheep. You really have peace and quiet there to switch off. Everything is very uncomplicated, always happy to return :)
