"Once in a lifetime" spot: camping in the sea

Wow! This is how Maren and Flo beautifully describe their "once in a lifetime" camping adventure in the VW Grand California at the lighthouse on Rügen. The exclusive camp at the end of the 1.5-kilometer-long pier was announced and awarded to the two lucky winners through our Instagram channel.

Maren and Flo, who usually love traveling in Scandinavia with their self-converted T4, could hardly believe their luck when they first found out they had won: "We never expected to be chosen. But then the excitement for the weekend was enormous!"

Upon arriving at the pitch, the couple was amazed by the 360-degree panoramic view of the Baltic Sea: "We have traveled a lot with our van, but we have never had such an extraordinary campsite before!"

After thoroughly exploring the spot, it was time to discover Sassnitz! Frank Biederstaedt, the director of the city archives and someone who knows the second-largest town on the island better than (almost) anyone else, guided them through the harbor, leisurely showed them all the sights, and, of course, shared the best insider tips.

Back at the campsite, a prepared BBQ was already waiting for the couple. Camping table and chairs were placed right by the water, facing the sunset. They could unwind and enjoy a delicious meal and wine, letting the eventful day come to a relaxed end.

The highlight the next morning after breakfast: a refreshing dive into the cool water! It was a necessary refreshment that bid farewell to this sunny weekend in a fitting manner.
